What to do if your basement floods

6/30/2020 (Permalink)

Rain falling into a puddle Rain falling into a puddle in the street, heavy rains can cause plenty of issues in a basement.

With all this rain and wind lately it's more than possible for you to experience flooding due to the weather. Here are some helpful tips to get you through any issues you may have. First make sure if flooding occurs you check possible causes before calling anyone. For example check to make sure your sump pump is functioning correctly and is operational. Sump pump failures can cause plenty of damage if not watched during heavy rains. Make sure all drains are clear or debris and dirt. If your drains back up it can cause a nasty sewage mess in your basement which can be a hassle for you to have cleaned and deodorized. You always want to make sure any items you have are at least 3 feet from any drains in the basement. If you do experience any flooding this season and just want some advice or help cleaning, please give us here at SERVPRO a call. We can make it "Like it never even happened."
