Dangers such as fire and toxic chemical spills warrant immediate evacuation from your business. It’s important to have a plan in place in the case of an emergency. By having a plan in place that has been properly practiced by all employees, you will ensure that everyone remains calm and exits safely. Have a clear chain of command with someone in charge who can designate duties and order the evacuation. Have specific routes and exits for evacuation purposes. This includes a floor diagram that has exits and exit routes clearly marked.

Preparation and planning ahead will ensure the safest evacuation possible. Be sure that you are aware of your businesses plan for evacuation and ensure that all employees are also well versed in the plan.
