Clogged Dryer Vents are the leading cause of home fires

The National Fire Protection Association reports nearly 17,000 home fires are started a year due to dryer fires. A leading cause of these fires is dryer vent buildup, making your vent a fire hazard to be aware of. Lint and debris buildup in the dryer vent creating a flammable situation.

To prevent a dryer fire, follow these precautions:

1. Ensure that your dryer is properly installed and the correct outlets and plugs are used
2. Clean the dryer lint filter before and after every load of laundry
3. Clean lint out of the pipe every three months
4. Ensure the outside vent is open when the dryer is on
